ABS-CBN Corp is in talks with telecom companies for possible content partnerships, an executive said on Tuesday.
“We are in talks with all the telcos. We want our content to be available in all platforms,” Rolando P. Valdueza, ABS-CBN chief financial officer told reporters on the sidelines of the 25th anniversary of the Philippine Cable Television Association.
Talks are all exploratory, he however said, adding that the broadcast firm is open to all telcos, including Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co, which owns a rival network, TV5, of which InterAksyon.com is the online news portal.
“The objective is how do we monetize our opex and how do we make our content available to all platforms,” Valdueza said.
“You have to see why PLDT wanted to acquire GMA,” he said, referring to the botched talks for the telco’s acquisition of a majority stake in GMA Network Inc.
“He wants obviously content for his distribution for his platform,” Valdueza said, referring to Manuel V. Pangilinan, who chairs PLDT.
